Focused on Efficient, Reliable and Sustainable Solutions

At MWH, now part of Stantec, we use our energy and power expertise to increase efficiency and reliability for our clients and provide sustainable solutions. By tapping into the tremendous renewable energy potential of the world’s waters, MWH has helped power more than 25 million homes globally through new facilities, and by applying best practice techniques for project rehabilitation, retrofit and upgrade.

As a global leader in pumped storage, low-head and mini-hydro, MWH helps clients develop and deliver technology-based solutions, programs and tools that balance economic, environmental and community needs throughout the entire project life cycle. The award-winning Nadarivatu hydro-power project has helped Fiji reduce its dependence on diesel generation.

MWH supports clients with the on-going management of their infrastructure through our asset management and dam safety management services. By focusing on clean energy, energy planning and management, and sustainability services, we improve efficiency and reduce cost and risk for our clients.  We also help clients manage risk through provision of due diligence and project advisory services for private developments.

In addition to renewable energy, MWH specialises in district heating systems. Our work for Cadbury in Dunedin and the Canterbury District Health Board demonstrates our capability in the design of boilers and steam distribution pipelines.

The New Zealand team undertakes projects for public and private utilities, contractors, project development companies, natural resources and mining, and international finance institutions. We understand the different requirements of these organisations and customise our services to suit. Our track record in Asia Pacific includes work in New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa and Malaysia.

Examples of MWH meeting client needs and leading the way in the energy and power industry:

  • Designed more than 120 new hydroelectric projects and more than 300 rehabilitation projects, with a total installed capacity of 70,000 megawatts.
